Octopus wrapping machine that challenges the conven-
tional methods of the packaging industry entered the
market in 1983. The machine was the first to use ring
technology, and it was created to meet customer needs
as a vision of its inventor.
Our product development has been based on the
same principle for three decades: building on customers’
needs and wishes. Octopus would not have achieved the
success it has if it weren’t for our commitment to always
have the customer as the main priority,” Haloila’s CEO
Jari Paavola says.
Over the course of decades, Octopus has grown from a
single machine to a full range of models. Product devel-
opment is continuous, and new innovations have been
launched at a steady pace.
The three cornerstones of our product development
are customers, our in-house product development opera-
tions and a diverse network of partners. Through coop-
eration, we have been able to respond to our customers’
needs as well as continuously develop something new,”
Paavola ponders.
Increased automation has continuously introduced new
innovations to the product range, improving the ma-
chines’ efficiency and ease of use. The basic principle and
technology has, however, remained the same throughout
the years. The speed and handling capacity of the machines
are key targets for development, and Haloila has invested
a lot in them.
The most important attribute of Octopus machines is their
reliability. Also, solutions customised to customer needs, for
example industry-specifically, have made it possible for the
user to not have to do much when the machine operates as
it should in the packaging line,” Paavola laughs.
Our knowledge extends also to material technology of
stretch film, manufactured by our sister companies ITW
Muller and Mima Films. The next major step for the Octo-
pus product range is to harmonise the line-up throughout
the world. Even in a global operating environment, Octopus
can offer a world-class packaging solution in any market.
The three cornerstones of our product development
are customers, our in-house product development
operations and a diverse network of partners.
